May 16, 2009: 3rd Annual Luncheon Fundraiser at Beck’s Steak & Seafood Restaurant, Newark, CA 94560. Our 3rd Annual fundraiser was a great success, thanks again to our continued dedication & support from our donors & volunteers. A special thanks to our guest speakers, Dr. Farzana Nabi & Ustadh Rashid Meskienyar. Their personal experiences as Afghans & their backgrounds added depth to our event & made it a very memorable experience. Special thanks go to the Afghan Youth Coalition of Ohlone College who helped us tremendously with the preparation & performance of this event.

May 31, 2008: 2nd Annual Luncheon Fundraiser at Beck’s Steak & Seafood Restaurant, Newark, CA 94560. This annual event showcased the history of CAHP, supported by our distinguished guest speakers, Prof. Norman Bowen, ph.D & Dr. Rajabally, who discussed the importance of such an organization and how important it is to continue to support education abroad. The response was pleasantly overwhelming and we hope to continue to have this success in the future at our future annual luncheons.

Nadia & Hamead Zaka helped read personal letters from the students at the C.A.H.P. sponsored schools in Afghanistan.

April 20, 2008: Afghan New Year’s Picnic at Pleasanton Fairgrounds, Pleasanton, California: a celebration for the coming of spring. This day allows vendors to display traditional jewelry, clothes, food, and other items. CAHP had their usual henna tattoos & face-painting booth for the kids.

Both officers gave presentations to several classes of 7th & 8th grade students about C.A.H.P & to introduce the students to the Afghan orphans, students, & teachers who will benefit from their generosity. It was a wonderful experience & C.A.H.P. can’t wait to return to such a welcoming group of students.

August 29, 2007: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory “Day on the Green” BBQ fundraiser, Livermore, Ca. This event is held every year at the LLNL laboratory in which different ethnic groups can showcase and sell the food from their cultural background. With the assistance of Fowzia Zaka & her husband Aziz Zaka (the chef), C.A.H.P sold chicken kabobs, white rice, salad, & Afghan bread. This event was a huge success with the employees at the lab.
