"It is not righteousness that you turn your faces towards East or West; but it is righteousness to believe in Allah and the Last Day and the Angels and the Book and the Messengers; to spend of your substance out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask; and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayers and practice regular charity; to fulfill the contracts which you made; and to be firm and patient in pain (or suffering) and adversity and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the God fearing"(Quran 2: 177).

In the Holy Quran, everywhere Allah (SWT) asked us to perform prayers, He also asked us to pay charity. Therefore, as Muslims we are required to help those in need and orphans and children are most qualified to receive charity. I believe it is my Islamic duty to help orphans and needy children, and that is my rationale for being part of Children of Afghanistan Hope Project (CAHP).

My name is Deeba Haider. I am attending California State University Hayward currently as a junior working on my Baccalaureate’s Degree in Biological Sciences. I met Soraya Ahmadyar through the Afghan organization where we shared similar goals and decided to open up a non-profit organization to help children in Afghanistan.

I would like to thank all officers and members of CAHP, especially Soraya Ahmadyar for her unconditional efforts and incessant support. I strongly believe in the hard work of our officers and members which will enable our organization to achieve its goals of eliminating poverty and providing the best education for Children of Afghanistan (inshAllah). Allah (SWT) will reward everyone for their efforts and help us achieve our goals.

Allah is advising us that our worship is incomplete without helping deeds. So after having believed in Allah, the angels, the Prophets, the Books and the Last Day we must translate our Iman (faith) and our beliefs into actions of service to humankind.
